  • UKCA(UK Conformity Assessment) 2020.10.30

If the product is intended for the UK market, it must comply with the UK Conformity Assessed (UKCA) scheme.

On 1 January 2021, the UK government launched a new system for products launching in the UK (England, Wales and Scotland) markets. This is for most products that currently require a CE mark. However, special rules apply to Northern Ireland that have not introduced a UKCA (UK Conformity Assessed) scheme, and the UKNI or CE mark should be applied instead of the UKCA.

The new system went into effect on January 1, 2021, but companies are given a period of adjustment. In most cases, the existing CE mark will be available until December 31, 2022. For medical devices, the transition period has been extended further and is set to May 30, 2023.

  • IEC 62368-1 (Version III, 2018) 2018.11.30

IEC 62368-1 replaces the existing IEC 60950-1 (safety specification for IT equipment) and IEC 60065 (safety specification for A/V equipment). The IEC 62368-1 standard, covering safety requirements for audio/video, information and communications technology and office equipment, was published in January 2010 as the speed of product innovation increased the boundaries between traditional audio/video products and IT devices.
IEC 62368-1 is a new standard, not an amendment to the existing standard, and changes the safety evaluation phase of the product from the design phase to the final test and certification phase. Risk-based standards highlight product assessment for safety at the design stage.
IEC 62368-1 applies to a wide range of electrical and electronic equipment in audio, video, and information and communications technologies, including power supplies, servers, computer monitors, TVs, laptops, personal computers and computer peripherals.
